Product variants let you sell one product with multiple options — sizes, colours, materials, or any combination — without creating a separate product for each. Sailia generates every combination automatically and tracks them individually for stock, pricing, and reporting.
Variants are configured on shop products. They work in both the POS and the online booking page.

A simple example

A T-Shirt product with:
  • Sizes: S, M, L
  • Colours: Red, Blue
Sailia automatically creates six variants:
  • S / Red, S / Blue
  • M / Red, M / Blue
  • L / Red, L / Blue
Each variant can have its own:
  • Stock level
  • SKU
  • Image
  • Price (optional override)

Create variants

1

Open the product

Go to Products → Shop Products and open or create the product you want to add variants to.
2

Enable stock tracking (recommended)

Turn on stock tracking so Sailia can manage availability per variant.
3

Add an option type

In the Variants section, add an option type (e.g. “Size”) and its values (S, M, L, XL).
4

Add more option types (optional)

Add a second option type like “Colour” with its own values. Sailia generates every combination automatically.
5

Configure each variant

Set stock quantities, SKUs, and (optionally) variant-specific images or prices.

Variant stock management

Each variant can have its own quantity, or be set to unlimited stock. When a variant hits zero:
  • Customers can’t add it to a basket online
  • The POS prevents staff from overselling it
Stock decrements as variants are sold and increments back when refunded.

Variant images and SKUs

Per-variant images are useful when colour matters — showing the red T-shirt photo when “Red” is selected, for example. Per-variant SKUs are useful for:
  • Inventory and stock reporting
  • Barcode workflows
  • Matching variants to your accounting or fulfilment system

Selling variants at the POS

When you tap a product with variants in the POS:
  1. A variant selector appears
  2. Choose size, colour, or any other option
  3. Add to basket
The POS shows live stock per variant and prevents you from selling something that’s out of stock.

When to use variants

Use variants for anything that comes in multiple styles or sizes of the same item:
  • Clothing and merchandise
  • Wetsuits
  • Branded apparel
  • Equipment in different sizes
Don’t create separate products for each size or colour — variants are cleaner, faster to manage, and keep your reporting consistent.

Shop products

Create and manage physical and digital products.

Point of sale

Use variants at the in-person checkout.
